A Professional Soldier: 1st Lt. Mark Bailey

By Martha Zoller - About three weeks ago I received a forwarded email from Scott Kimbler in the WDUN news department. It’s not unusual for me to get emails from Scott; he’s always been a good source for stories. The email was from a woman who wanted to tell me about her son-in-law. He is a Marine deployed to Iraq. One thing I have learned is that you are always a Marine, but this Marine has served for 13 years and was married and had three little boys. I sensed that this Marine’s mother-in-law was proud of and worried about her son-in-law. That email was how I learned about 1st Lt. Mark Bailey. He is a patriot, a hero, a father, husband, son and a man from North Georgia—all things that I respect.
